Colonel Frederick Champion de Crespigny

The de Crespignys lived in the Hall. Alec Morse worked there as gardener when he first married Freda High and Alec's mother was employed as cook.

There were two brothers, and the village knew them in those days as 'the Commander' and 'the Colonel'.

The Colonel had a wife, Mabel Champion de Crespigny, and it was her brother Commander Stagg who came to stay and spent most of his time researching the village history.

Colonel de Crespigny was a close shooting friend of Ronald Deterding of Kelling Hall, and the writing on this photo, "Your Companion in Arms", refers to Ronald Deterding.
